Awards!

It’s the end of the school year here in Australia so in the last few days I have attended a number of awards presentations at my children’s schools. My daughter gave a speech telling the school why they should choose her as school captain next year. She laboured over it for weeks and she presented it with panache. She didn’t go on about her achievements but sought votes via her entertaining presentation – it was a kind of rhyming rap. Fingers crossed she gets the gig. Hopefully the children voting go for style and not substance!

My son’s presentation evening was a different affair – lots of pomp and ceremony. He goes to a fee-paying school so I think the school likes to reaffirm to us parents that we are spending our money well by sending our sons to the school. I’m still not sure.

So now it’s my turn to receive some awards! I don’t know about you, but as an adult I’m not in the habit of receiving awards very often. My kids would consider themselves too old to give me a “World’s best mum”coffee cup for Christmas.  I can’t give you rhyming rap or pomp and ceremony but I do give all my lovely readers a huge thank you for your support and interest in my fledgling blog. Like all good awards ceremonies I will endeavour to keep this brief so I’m going to acknowledge some of the blogs I love at the end of the post and award them with a Blog of the Year Award which sounds pretty damn impressive!

I love Crazy Train to Tinky Town. She is funny and self-effacing and honest. Check her out. She has awarded me the very impressive

The Rules are:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award – and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them

5 You can now also join our Facebook page – click the link here ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience

6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

which leads me to my second Blog of the Year award from Marsha Lee who is a lovely, supportive blogging friend.

Thanks to The Vibe 101 for a Liebster award.

A huge thanks to A Day in the Life of Jennay – this woman bakes, sews, crafts, takes photos, writes and impresses me hugely with her talents. She has awarded me the Very Inspiring Blog Award.

I’ve recently started following the Life Bus. These girls know how to live life to the fullest and take beautiful photos to inspire us to do the same. They have given me:

wonderful-readership-award2

I’ve recently met Ganesh who lives in Hyderabad and writes wonderful fiction.  He has nominated me for:

reality-blog-award and shineon

Relaxing Cooking (isn’t that a contradiction in terms?) has awarded me the Beautiful Blogger Award. This amazing woman blogs in English, Spanish and Italian and on cooking wonderful food. If I could just gain one of those skills I would be ecstatic. (except the English part which I’ve pretty much mastered.)

So rather than clog up my blog (see, a bit of rhyming for those who have been paying attention) with lots of rules I am just going to nominate some of my favourite blogs for Blog of the Year 2012:

Congratulations and start collecting those stars!

  1. Thanks so much for nominating me, Sue!! I’ve really enjoyed following your blog and getting to know you some! =) I will work on posting this blog and nominating my top bloggers for the award by the end of the week!

  2. Congratulations on the stars, Sueann. I loved the way you rattled through your other awards. 😀 I think I must do the same and clear my backlog before the year ends. Well done to you.

    • I know it was a bit cheeky but I think it just gets a bit boring for the reader to go into the rules of each one. Having said that I so appreciate being nominated I want to acknowledge them.

      • I agree, and it all becomes too onerous. That’s why I’ve been putting off the awful moment. 😀 “Never do today, what you can put off until tomorrow.”
